Our guests do not have to be astronomers to appreciate a break at Fieldview as there are numerous attractions in the area. The North Norfolk coast is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty and offers vast sandy beaches, saltmarsh, coastal woodland and miles of footpaths to explore. There are many nature reserves on the coast and if you are interested in Birdwatching or other wildlife, or just appreciate wild open spaces then you must visit the Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserves at Holme Dunes and Cley Marshes. A trip from Morston or Blakeney to see the seal colony on Blakeney Point appeals to all ages and in the summer you can spend time on the point itself to see the tern colony and explore the impressive sand dunes. There are many other places in North Norfolk to visit, each village has its own unique character often with a history stretching back beyond Roman times. Most have flint cottages, ancient churches and other buildings of special historical interest, all set in rolling open countryside linked by small winding roads. There are many stately homes open to the public within easy driving distance of Fieldview, including Holkham Hall with its impressive Palladian design and of course the Royal residence at Sandringham should not be missed. There are cottage industries close by including glass blowing at Langham whilst lace making and weaving are carried out in many small villages. Fieldview is only two miles from the village of Walsingham, a place of Pilgrimage and site of the shrine of the Virgin Mary since 1061. The Norfolk Broads are only twenty miles away and hold an impressive array of plants and wildlife, again with a good number of nature reserves which are worth a visit, or you could hire a boat and have a great day out on the water. We can help you plan your days out or you can just relax at Fieldview, sit in the garden and enjoy the peaceful immediate surroundings. Alternatively you could explore the countryside on one of the cycles which are available for our residents, it is an excellent way to get to know the area. Fieldview is ideally situated for a cycling holiday as the National Cycle route passes close by our door. (See map above).
